Review: Waterproof camera Olympus u1030sw
In year 2008 I was looking for camera which would be good for two weeks bicycle trip in Lithuania. There were few requirements for camera:
- 8 million pixels or more;
- Lightweight;
- Water resistance;
- Solid body;
- Small size;
I found Olympus Mju series. The best one was Mju 1030sw. Olympus u1030sw specifications:
- 10.1 million pixels;
- Optical zoom: 3.6x;
- Resolution up top 3648×2736;
- ISO (auto) 80-1600;
- Normal focus 500mm;
- Macro focus 20mm;
- Flash: auto, off, on, red eyes;
- Video: 15fps up to 640×480;
- Video sound: yes;
- Weight: 173 g;
- Memory card: xD;
Additional:
- Can be dropped from 2 m.;
- Can be pressed by 100 kg;
- Can “swim” in water (up to 10 m deep);
- Can be used in winter (up to -10 C);
First thing what I bought for this camera was additional battery. I bought it because of trip without electricity. I can’t remind, but I guess that 2GB xD card was included in price. By the way, price was 1249 Litas (it’s almost 500$). Battery was quite expensive (50$ or mrore), because none stores couldn’t offer it except Olympus store.
Till now I own this camera and still hadn’t any big problems. Only few small things:
- As you can see in the picture black color “run away”;
- Small scratch on the screen;
- Broken trim around the lens (no time to glue it);
This camera was worth these money, because of additional functions and really good quality. It is recommended to buy original xD cards, because in these cards you can find function for making panoramic pictures. I will not comment about about taking photos. It is easy to use for non-pro photographers. All functios are very similar with other Olympus cameras. If I need to change camera now I don’t know what camera will get largest amount of points from me. Today I want SLR, but this Olympus won’t lose my attention because I really like travelling and taking pictures in winter or underwater.

In year 2007 I bought one of the cheapest notebook I found. It was Benq Joybook A52E. It costed about 550 USD.
If you are insterested in technologies you may know what is SIRI. If not I will explain.
Pool in the yard doesn’t surprise neighbors or your guest, but pool from this Youtube video can surprise all your guest. On the other hand, this hidden pool could be used as prank (look at the 1:23)
I have just looked at one of my website’s analytics reports and I was surprised about browsers.
I saw LEGO in local store and remind that these blocks were probably my favorit game in childhood. I have lot of ideas what to construct, but now I have no ideas for constructing.
Do you need to print something really small? For example, notes or bus shedule? You need Little Printer.

Today I found out that Youtube changed their look. Interesting that most of people dislike the new look, but I think it’s really good and easy to use.
